It is that time of year where we are planning ahead for Preschool Graduation 2021, as well as crossing our fingers that Covid will not interfere, as it did last year! With that, if you have a child who is eligible for Kindergarten in the fall of 2021, it is important that you inform Cindy as soon as possible as to whether or not you are planning to send them to school, or have them wait until next year. If you find your are on the fence with your decision, we will do Kindergarten assessments on ALL of the eligible children during the month of April that will be sent home for the parents to evaluate and hopefully help make that decision a bit easier.
If your child is eligible for Kindergarten in the fall of 2021, and you have chosen to wait until next year, please inform Cindy of this ASAP. The reason being, is we prefer to make any necessary alterations to our classrooms sooner, rather than later. Between now and May, we work with our Kindergarten eligible children to buildup their confidence as they prepare for their new adventure. We explain the expectations that their teachers will have for them next year in Kindergarten. Ultimately, there is a great deal of "hype" surrounding the idea of Kindergarten in general. It is heartbreaking to prepare a child for Kindergarten and have them eager to go, only to let them down later on by informing them that in fact, they won't be moving on this year with their peers. It is far easier to move them to another group now if you are certain they will be waiting until next year!
We will plan to begin rehearsing for our Preschool Graduation the first week of May. Please let Cindy know no later than Friday, April 30 if your child will not be moving on to Kindergarten. It is quite difficult to explain to a child why they were going to be participating in the program, but they aren't anymore.
Registration for Kindergarten can begin as early as March for some area schools. Please see Cindy if you have any questions or concerns.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
We would like to send out a big thank you to all of the families here at Discovery for their generosity and support with our community fundraiser. Our Preschoolers and their families dug deep into their pockets and collected a grand total of $277.02 in pennies and various other coins and bills for the "Toys for Tots" program!
Also, a very special thank you to Hailey Meech and her mom for taking this money and spending the day purchasing the toys!
