For those of you that did not make it to Open House, here are a couple messages we'd like to pass along!
Cubbies
We ask that parents occasionally take a moment during arrival or departure times to sift through their child's cubby to ensure they remain as organized as possible throughout the year.
1.  One extra outfit (we ask that this be the only item "stored" in the cubbies)
Outfit should be:
  • Size & weather appropriate
  • Contained in a gallon size Ziploc that is clearly labeled with your child's name
Outfit should not be:
  • Unconfined articles of clothing:  They often fall out of the cubbies & we are unable to determine who they belong to
  • Stored in a grocery bag:  Ziploc = clean clothes   ||   Grocery bag = dirty clothes
2.  Coats & winter clothing
  • These items should all be taken to and from school each day
  • Please do not store your child's winter wear in their cubby for the duration of the season!
  • As the temperatures begin to drop, please be sure your child has the appropriate clothing each day to ensure they get to go outside with their group, and send those articles to and from school with your child each day:
On a typical, cold, fall/winter day:
Days when there is a fair amount of snow accumulation:
  • Coat
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Coat
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Snow boots
  • Snow pants
3.  We strongly discourage bringing personal toys or unnecessary belongings from home
  • Such items are often broken, stolen, or lead to disputes between the children throughout the day
By asking our parents to help us in keeping their child's cubby tidy, this makes it far easier for the teachers to sweep the bottoms out and wipe them down.  When they are cluttered and overflowing with unnecessary items, this task becomes quite difficult!
Cots & Blankets
Cots are located upstairs under the south portions of both lofts
Children who are eligible for Kindergarten next fall
Cots of children who are eligible for Kindergarten in the fall of 2020 are located under the west lofts, and are marked with orange tape
Children who are not eligible for Kindergarten next fall
Cots of children who are not eligible for Kindergarten next fall are located under the east lofts, and are marked with white tape.
  • Please be sure your child has a heavier blanket on their cot as the cooler weather begins to set in!
  • We ask that parents take their child's blanket home on their last scheduled day of the week to be laundered.  We strongly recommend taking this precaution more frequently than usual, especially since we have had a handful of children with head lice
  • When returning blankets, please return them to your child's cot:
  • Per the health inspectors request, please refrain from stacking the children blankets on the island upstairs
  • Please do not leave blankets in cubbies.  We would rather the children not have their arms full while walking up the stairs in order to limit the chance of an unnecessary accident.
  • While we do not "recommend" pillows, if your child insists on having one, please take note that we only allow small sized pillows on the cots.  If the pillows are too big and bulky, they make it quite difficult to stack the cots properly, and unfortunately we will ask that they be taken home.  Again, given that we have had head lice within the last month, frequently washing (or eliminating pillows entirely) may be beneficial.
Files
The Preschooler's file boxes are located upstairs on the island.  Here you will find many of your child's projects and activities as well as book order forms and other bits of information.  Please check your child's file regularly as they tend to fill up rather quickly.  Please note, the file boxes are emptied every 3-4 weeks, depending on volume.
Please be sure to take your child to the bathroom upon arrival, prior to taking them upstairs
This will minimize excessive trips un and down the stairs, as well as limit the frequency of accidents should they forget to ask and are not able to make it down the stairs in time!
