Since "April showers bring May flowers", this seems like the perfect week to discuss the rainbows that follow closely behind a rain storm. During this week, we will also utilize the "rainbow" theme as a way to review the colors we have been learning thoughout the year.

Weekly Reminders! |
Monday, March 30: We will begin assessments for those children who are eligible for Kindergarten in the fall of 2020. We are aiming to have them all completed by Friday, April 24. Once the assessments have been completed, they will be placed in your child's file, located at the top of the stairs, for you to take home and review. We will also attach the assessment that was done on your child at the beginning of the preschool year, which will allow you to compare and see the progression over the course of the preschool year. If you have any questions, please ask Jacque and she can direct you to the teacher who assessed your child, and would be able to answer them most accurately.

Theme: Easter
Letter: Review all Number: Review all Sign language: Review all |
This is a short school week, but we have lots of spring-filled activities to cram into our 4 short days! Since Easter is fast approaching, we will prepare for the holiday with lots of arts, crafts, and other seasonal fun!
|
Theme: Dinosaurs
Letter: Review all Number: Review all Sign language: Review all |
This week, we will be learning all about dinosaurs! The kids are always fascinated by this topic. They learn what it means to be "extinct", as well as why certain dinosaurs have specific features such as spikes, long necks, or wings, and that these features actually serve a purpose. We will discuss the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores in addition to various other fun dino facts!
|
Theme: Earth Day & plants
Letter: Review all Number: Review all Sign language: Review all |
It is important that we help the preschoolers grasp the basic concept of recycling and the many ways in which it benefits our environment. We like to utilize Earth Day to show the kids that they are never too young to begin learning ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle! This week we will also be discussing various flowers as well as their anatomy.

Weekly Reminders! |
Theme: Transportation
Letter: Review all Number: Review all Sign language: Review all |
This week the preschoolers will be discussing the many forms of transportation. From cars and bicycles, to boats and helicopters...if it moves us from one point to the next, it's transportation!

Weekly Reminders! |
Monday, April 27: The preschoolers who will be moving on the Kindergarten in the fall of 2020 will begin practicing for their Preschool Graduation Ceremony. If you are NOT planning to send your Kindergarten Eligible child to school in the fall, and are planning to have them remain at Discovery one more year to further prepare, please let Cindy know ASAP so we can remove them from this group! We prefer to move these children out of this group sooner rather than later simply because once they believe they are moving on to the next phase with their friends, it becomes quite difficult to tell them that they, in fact, won't be participating with their peers!
|
Friday, May 1: The children who will be participating in the Preschool Graduation Program will need to have a baby picture to Cindy NO LATER than May 1. We use these pictures for a slideshow, and have learned over time that baby pictures when the child is around 6-9 months tend to work best. That way we can still "guess" who they are based on their features! We have also found it to be most convenient if parents are able to email their child's photo to Cindy at billingsdiscovery@me.com. However, if you are unable to do so, please just be sure to deliver it to Cindy's office by May 1.
